Other projects include an effort to assist established sea turtle conservation programs in Bocas to man the beaches by volunteers from U.S. universities and other sources. We have made contact with several organizations and Spanish language schools outside of Bocas, which have students looking for short-term volunteer opportunities in Bocas. We have connected those organizations and groups with the turtle conservation programs here.
Per a request from the village. To teach English language as a community education project in the village of Salt Creek. This will both expand the potential patrons of the village environmental guides for national park tours and provide a valuable asset to every person seeking employment outside of the village.
We need textbooks in Spanish for all grade levels. All of the schools have a shortage of textbooks, especially the more remote schools. SBT has been in contact with an organization called World Care (http://www.worldcare.org) in Houston, Texas. We are hoping to arrange to receive free textbooks, which would otherwise be destroyed. We can use textbooks from any source, if you have textbook contacts please let us know.

These islands are part of the Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park and offer a unique opportunity for practical field experience in tropical reef ecology.
